No overpromising. If my plan doesn't work, we change it for an alternative approach. If you're not responding to my care I will already have a plan B. No lengthy treatment projections, within just a few sessions, we'll know if we're on the right path. If not, I won't keep you coming back time and time again. Gaining your trust is very important. The clinic has access to consultants and scanning if required

I can write to your GP if you wish to be referred through the NHS (a small charge applies unless its absolutely necessary)

If you're happy with your outcome, I will invite you on to maintenance care to prevent recurrence once you feel ready to see me less often. I'll try and improve your quality of life and to be the best you can. I will be on hand if anything happens

Your time to talk and explain and my time to assess. Most patients are treated on this day. Your £62 fee includes treatment if we both agree that Chiropractic is a suitable pathway. There is no obligation to undertake future appointment if you prefer to meet for advice. Bookings are guaranteed by a £30 non-refundable deposit.

Originally from Dinas Powys Olwen was educated at Glantaf Welsh Medium School in Llandaf North.

In 2002 she graduated in Forensic Chemistry later returning in that same year inspired to enrol to the Chiropractic programme under pioneers Prof. Susan King and Prof. David Byfield

The 'white cottage' was purchased in 2006 renovated over two years enabling Pontypridd Chiropractic to open its doors to the public

I became a resident of Pontypridd back in 1998, Becoming a Chiropractor has meant finding my calling in life. My intention upon opening in Hopkinstown was to bring affordable private care to people who need it most. I am deep rooted in the community and have a solid relationship with my patients. I value their loyalty, trust and recommendation. Why would I want to work anywhere else?"

What to expect

If you're in pain, it won't be easy at first. Its painful business but hopefully not for long. You will need to allow 45 minutes at your first visit. You will be expected to wear comfortable clothing but its no beauty contest. Wear what you already own. Do not buy clothing in preparation. Make sure that you are as comfortable as you can be and you won't be expected to strip off, so don't worry.

Privacy, chiropractic adjustments do not require you to undress

Undressing

You will never be asked to undress without being offered a gown. I can often work around clothing too if you'd prefer. Your privacy counts. Many people feel nervous about this and I want you to feel comfortable.

At your initial consultation you will be asked to sign a declaration, that you promise to behave in accordance to my short list of rules and that you consent to being treated after making an informed decision

Let's Talk About Chiropractic, What is It All About?

"In a nutshell, we specialise in the correction of problems in joints and the way these problems affect nerve function. We use techniques called 'Adjustments' to correct these problems. The adjustment aims to get you moving better.

With growing experience, Chiropractors are known to develop finesse and an innate ability to diagnose neuromuscular complaints and to treat them.

Chiropractic isn't for everyone. You'll be given a thorough consultation during which your suitability will be measured and ultimately you'll be the one to decide whats best for you, based on the presenting information we have.

We, as a profession can't make claims that are unsupported. We can only try, within safe limits to counteract the effects of stiffness and injury caused to the body by approaching; with caution and care. We are trained to examine the spine and the body's extremities, and to safely manage the patent's condition within the individual's own limitations and what they're prepared to undertake. Some patents value just the advice following diagnosis, some are prepared trust me to propose a treatment plan that will aim to treat the complaint until its acceptably manageable. I rarely advise a plan if I don't think it will work. We can only but try, as I say.

Your prognosis, (the likelihood of you getting better) is like an empty pot, the more complications you throw in that pot, the less optimal your 'prognosis'. This is why its important to arrive in clinic with an army of information. Do you have scan results, copies of your medication lists? These will all help so bring them along. This information will help to paint a picture of who you are, if there are complications beyond reasonable risk but foremost will give us hope that there is light at the end of the tunnel!

Over my career I have enjoyed working with pregnancy patients during their ante-natal complications, cases of neck pain that lead to referred cervical radiculopathy pain in the arm, sciatic nerve pain associated with lumbar spine issues, sports injuries, wellness care, postural assessment, disc pathology investigation and treatment, shoulder pain and dysfunction, knee degenerative cases, hip pathology, carpal tunnel syndrome, weight loss advice, perimenopause and menopause advice. Though it would be unwise to claim that Chiropractic can cure any of these listed problems, in my experience it has been evidenced to help alleviate the associated problems that they cause.
